Well... where to start. As many people know, I will be participating in the Rock 'n' Roll Seattle Marathon on June 26, 2010 as a member of the Kansas Chapter Team In Training Program on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Anyone who knows me knows that, ohhh not even a year ago, I absolutely hated running. So why on earth did I decide to do a marathon? Ya know, that's a good question... I picked up running this past summer and since then, cannot seem to get enough of it. I heard about Team in Training through some people I worked with and decided to attend an informational meeting. I talked my friend Madison into going with me, with no intentions of actually signing up that night. However, by the time we left, we were extremely excited and could not wait to embark on this new challenge!
The big decision to actually take on this challenge was in January... fast-forward almost 2 months and here we are:
This morning...
I had an amazing run this morning with Madison and Alfredo (a friend that Madison talked into doing the marathon also!). We met at 5:15am with intentions of doing a solid 8 mile run. By the time we got to 8 miles, we were feeling amazing... so we decided to go ahead and do a few more. We ended up running a little over 10 miles!! It's so great to have friends to run with who are willing to get up at 5 o clock on Saturday mornings and run.

(Me, Alfredo, Madison)
After our run, Madison stopped a fellow runner and asked her to take our picture to document our amazingness. She asked us what we were training for, so of course we were very proud to tell her about our marathon training and asked her what she was training for. To no surprise, she said she was a marathon runner. Madison asked what marathons she had done and she replied with, "Oh, I've done them all." HA! Me and Madison looked at each other and were like "Someday, that will be us." But for now, we are focused on our one goal.. crossing that finish line in Seattle.
